No Caucus for Old Men
No Caucuses, and No Agenda, Reed Coverdale and Idaho Joe Evans joined me for a lively, and long, conversation about the misapplied focus of Libertarian activism
Looking Inward
Libertarian Party drama is inarguably the worst part of the liberty movement. With so many dedicated, motivated, and capable activists wasting their potential and energy on internal power struggles, and petty personal vendettas. With the membership of caucuses being the defining characteristic of battle lines being drawn, we’ve stopped identifying each other as allies and libertarians, but as enemies and controlled opposition. Pragmatist, Mises, Classical Liberal, Radical, and all of the other caucuses that focus on the internal politics of the Libertarian Party have one thing in common- their absolute failure to accomplish anything of consequence outside of the echo chamber while they spend their time arguing over who controls the keys to Twitter accounts.
To that here is a non-exhaustive list of things that Libertarians shouldn’t care about, and should stop wasting time talking about:
Twitter posts
civility
LPNH Leadership
LPMA Petitions
LP Idaho Drama
Who is running for the LNC
Who is and is not affiliated with the LNC
What Jeremy Kauffman or Josh Smith said about the 19th Amendment
What someone said on a no-name podcast that only you listen to
Meghan McCain’s feelings
As I said, this isn’t an exhaustive list, but spending your time caring about these things, or others in their vein, accomplishes nothing and distracts you from what matters.
Looking Outward
The world is falling apart, and its salvation seems less and less likely with each passing week. On the brink of World War, economic collapse, energy and food shortages, unprecedented erosion of civil liberties, and the ushering in of a new age of totalitarianism, Libertarians are missing the forest for the trees when they focus on their personal disagreements instead of seeing the common enemy sneaking up on us in plain sight.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of things Libertarians should pivot their focus, attention, and energy to:
Genocide in Yemen is being funded with US tax dollars and carried out using American weaponry
Defend the Guard Legislation is preparing for a nationwide push
Unprecedented inflation and rising costs of living
Local housing shortages
Energy shortages and electricity rationing
The continued militarization of American police
The President openly declared his political opponents to be extremist threats to the nation
The continued theft of wealth from Americans to fund a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.
The threat of war with China in Taiwan.
As I said, this is not an exhaustive list, but spending your time and energy focusing on these issues and rededicating your activism towards them will have a chance of preserving not just your liberty, but the next generation’s as well.
Defend The Guard Rally on 9/11 in Concord
This weekend, I’ll be joining Libertarian Candidate for US Senate, Jeremy Kauffman, and others in speaking at the Defend The Guard Rally in Concord New Hampshire on the 21st Anniversary of 9/11.
I interviewed NH State Representative Matthew Santonastaso about the Defend The Guard Legislation a few weeks ago, check out that post to learn more about the bill and why it’s worth supporting!
I also wrote a piece for Jeremy Kauffman’s campaign about the rally this weekend, with details about the rally, and the significance of the anniversary we’re commemorating. Check it out on Jeremy’s page!
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible this weekend!

Summary
The one thing Libertarians hate more than government roads? Other Libertarians...
The one thing this crotchety group of guys hates more than other libertarians? Their caucuses...
Internal politics is toxic, and harmful to the overall mission of advancing liberty. The internal politics of The Libertarian Party is just a full-blown display of Sayre's Law in action. And worst of all, it's distracting us from shitting on John McCain.
Reed Coverdale and Idaho Joe join for a no-agenda reunion, where the only thing on the table is shitting on everyone else.
