Marianne Williamson takes on New Hampshire
Marianne Williamson visited New Hampshire this weekend to stump her primary campaign for the Democratic nomination against President Biden.
Now, I’ve historically had some not kind things to say about her politics and her proposals, and still carry one heck of a grudge about the way she blocked me so flippantly on twitter after such a non consequential exchange regarding her views not he pull out from Afghanistan. I don’t deny that I’m not in her camp, but I’m not lined up squarely in opposition to her either. She is a breath of fresh air as far as democrats go, and recognizes many of the problems with the corporate political machine and how it’s hurting Americans every day.
During her stump speech she likened republicans to a nosedive, and democrats to a controlled descent into failure. I’m sure in a different room you could invert the analogy and the meaning would come across the same - the political establishment does not serve the best interests of the American people.
Now I don’t support universal healthcare, medicare for all, or any other of a number of socialist prerogatives that she pushes for, but I do believe every candidate, no matter how fringe deserves a chance to be heard. And unlike Nikki Haley who’s campaign refused to even allow me to enter the building a few weeks ago during her PR tour, Marianne’s campaign not only welcomed myself and
host , she was willing to take our questions in stride, and mend old fences to try and find common ground.I’ll share a couple of short clips first!
Reed has long had an an axe to grind with Marianne regarding her stances on the End of the War in Afghanistan, and has never shied away from letting her know about them on twitter, sometimes in a more hostile manner than may be needed. But Tonight he was able to ask his questions, get an (unsatisfactory if you ask me) answer, and force that engagement to happen offline.
Now you all may remember around the same time as President Biden finally withdrew US troops from Afghanistan, I joined Reed in his constant criticisms of Marianne’s positions, but challenged her to present them and defend them in an interview on my podcast. She initially accepted, and we were discussing scheduling, when Reed posted a tweet about being excited to join the show and debate her, and she promptly replied “Date Cancelled” and blocked me on Twitter.
Well, Hopefully we’ll get some resolution, and come full circle on that broken promise from 18 months ago, as tonight I got the chance to bring up the altercation and interaction, as a challenge to the toughness of her fortitude and fitness for office.
I mean, if she can’t handle me, how can she handle Vladimir Putin?
And what could have been a hostile encounter and an argumentative back and forth, turned into an apology, recognition of good faith, and a promise to make right on the ghosting of the past, and join my show along with Reed, and another gentleman from the audience, to have a discussion from 4 different view points regarding the issues at hand.
I’m holding my breath, but looking forward to it optimistically. (she still hasn’t unblocked me!)
