Fair Elections require Fair Debates
How many podiums fit on a debate stage? Every election season, the mainstream media outlets that host the debates manage to cram an unseemly amount of them onto the stages for the primaries, to give the dozens of republican and democratic hopefuls an opportunity to speak their piece. Yet for the General Election, they claim they need to weed it down to just two candidates in order for it to be reasonable and go out of their way to come up with arbitrary reasons to exclude Libertarians and other third-party candidates from the stages.
A hurdle to clear just like ballot access, debate access is a tough nut to crack, and one that continues to elude outsider candidates trying to get their message to voters on a budget. This issue isn’t new for most Libertarians, and I’m not going to rehash it for you tonight. I wrote about it earlier for Jeremy Kauffman’s campaign, and I’ll let you read what I wrote there for yourself!
