Happy Giving Tuesday
A yearly celebration of charity, it's the time to focus on voluntary giving to help promote freedom!
The Libertarian Case for Charity
One of the strongest selling points in favor of government services is the persistent need of those less fortunate, and the presentation of government services as an act of compassion and charity. But what makes charity so wonderful, is its voluntary nature. When individuals reach into their own pockets to help those less fortunate on their own, it is an act of compassion, grace, and an expression of community values. When the state uses violence and force to reallocate funds, it creates perverse incentives and inept bureaucracies. Only a fraction of the money taken ends up helping those in need at the end of the day, and the bulk is used to create more victims of an ever-growing war machine.
But in the absence of ethically run government charities, there is often a void where people hesitate to step up and fill the needs of their communities. However, the reality is, that it is more important than ever, to support Libertarian charities and non-profits that are promoting the causes of freedom and liberty in our lifetimes, while the government works so diligently to put obstacles in their way.
So This giving Tuesday, I’m posing to you a challenge, to pony up and give!
If you can give something small, then give something small, if you can give something large, then make someone else’s day with your charity. If you can’t afford to give, you can still help by sharing, and reminding others of the importance of charity. Live your libertarian principles, and don’t wait for others to build the world you want to see.
Below, I’m going to spend a little bit of time talking about 6 different charitable and nonprofit projects I’m supporting this year, the ways they are making a difference in the world, and why they are worth supporting! This list isn’t exhaustive, and if you think I’m missing a charity you want to see supported, make sure to mention them in the comments!

Charity is one of the fundamental tenets of libertarian social ideology. In the absence of government services, those in need will rely on voluntary community assistance to get by. Looking out for our fellow man, on a voluntary basis is the truest form of compassion and freedom there is!
For Your Consideration
The following list is of 6 charitable and non-profit organizations and projects I plan on supporting and working with this coming year. As you consider your Giving Tuesday contributions, Please consider them.
The Innocence Project
The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. The Innocence Project works to restore freedom for the innocent, transform the systems responsible for their unjust incarceration, and advance the innocence movement. We do so in the following ways.
We Heart West
We Heart West is comprised of action-oriented homeowners and renters in West Manchester that are committed to improving the community. From coordinating cleanups of neighborhood streets and parks to providing charitable services to homes in need like meals and transportation, our time is spent to making the Northwest, Rimmon Heights, Notre Dame, Piscataquog, Wolfe Park, Mast Road, and Pinardville neighborhoods remain vibrant and welcoming for all.
Free The People
Free the People's mission is simple: Turn on the next generation to the values of personal liberty and peaceful cooperation by making core principles and big ideas entertaining, accessible, and human.
Founded in 2016 by Matt and Terry Kibbe, Free the People specializes in creative storytelling, video production, and social media engagement. We produce documentary films, video web series, and podcasts that illuminate the people and ideas changing the world for the better. We know that a beautifully produced and emotionally compelling personal story transcends preconceived notions and political biases. Our video work connects with audiences across the partisan divide, opening new hearts and minds to alternative solutions based on voluntary choice and mutual respect.
By telling good stories, Free the People is building a new audience—a true community for liberty.
The Free State Project
The Free State Project is a mass migration of more than 20,000 people who have pledged to move to New Hampshire for liberty. By concentrating our numbers in a single state, we are maximizing our impact as activists, entrepreneurs, community builders, and thought leaders.
Free Staters are neighborly, productive folks from all walks of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors, who are on a mission to prove that more liberty leads to more prosperity for everyone. Those in New Hampshire are reaping the movement's benefits, both in our freedoms and in our quality of life, but our ultimate goal is to set an example for the rest of the world.

For the past 10+ years, the Fraternal Order of Porcupines has operated a clubhouse and community center, catering to the libertarian community in Southern New Hampshire. If you've ever visited Porcfest or Liberty Forum, you've likely heard tell of the Quill. If you've lived in the Merrimack Valley, you have come to know how Important The Quill has been - not just as a community center, but as a base for activism and outreach over the years, serving as host to the monthly Free State Project New Mover's Parties as well as monthly agorist Market Days for the Community.
With a new mission of community ownership of real estate, and expansion to service other communities int he growing Liberty movement, the Fraternal Order of Porcupines is a valuable asset to the Libertarian community in new Hampshire.
Live Free and Thrive
In 2001, Libertarian Political Scientist Jason Sorens had an idea. What if Libertarians stopped trying to fight political battles that they'd been losing for so long, and instead tried a strategy of consolidation, picking a single state, and all moving there to wield their influence as a larger group with a more significant impact? Well, they chose New Hampshire and started driving. Two decades later, as the nation becomes less and less amenable to the ideals of liberty, New Hampshire heads in the other direction. With libertarians becoming a significant force in local politics, The Granite State has become the clear front-runner for the freest state in the country. In this volume, you’re presented with 101 Reasons why Liberty Lives in New Hampshire!
The book is available now on Amazon for Kindle and Paperback Versions, and for FREE as a PDF on this site! We're also filing a documentary film as well! If you would like to help us produce and distribute this film, please consider donating!
